Well this is interesting. According to this news source, Aswat Aliraq, which seems to translate to "Voices of Iraq", Al-Maliki is saying that a strike against Iran is "in the cards":
"The mass media has overplayed the Iranian crisis. A military strike against Iran is in the cards, which we do not want because it will not only be a catastrophe for Iraq, but for the Middle East as well," al-Maliki told reporters in a Baghdad-based press conference today.
I'm starting to get sort of a "reverse tin-foil" attitude about all of this -- I can't help but think that all these stories and leaks and rumors we hear about attacking Iran is nothing more than the Pentagon using various types of propaganda and psyops to do some serious saber-rattling.
Is Al-Maliki just a stooge of the Pentagon? Or are his concerns real?
"Dialogue and peaceful means are the right solution to the crisis," the premier added.
On the one hand, if I was anywhere near Iraq, the last thing I would want is to mess with Iran. Yet if I knew I could always bail out and the U.S. would protect me and send me into luxurious exile, I might (if I were that type of person) be a little toady for my masters.
Which is it? Heck if I know.
I do find the source interesting. Anyone know any more about this news outlet? Is it for real? Or is it a Pentagon propaganda outlet? I'd never heard of it till now. I also can't help but wonder how "in the cards" was translated ...
