Gore Challenges Gephardt and Dukakis on Spending caps:
LEAD: Questioning the practices of two rivals, Senator Albert Gore Jr.'s Presidential campaign today asked the Federal Election Commission to rule on the legitimacy of skirting state spending limits by counting television advertisements as fund-raising expenses.

I thought this might be a good example of how far the internal ethics of the Democratic party have now fallen. Steve Forbes and then Bush dragged us so far right we didn't even notice. The Party actually used to discuss "ethics" and "corruption". And Gore was right to point it out.
Questioning the practices of two rivals, Senator Albert Gore Jr.'s Presidential campaign today asked the Federal Election Commission to rule on the legitimacy of skirting state spending limits by counting television advertisements as fund-raising expenses.
Sorta shows you how far the party has drifted rightward doesn't it? Also according to various Gephardt supporting Kossacks, Gore is being a purity troll. Dukakis is the most experienced strong candidate dammit!
In its request, the Gore campaign sought to make an issue of recent disclosures by the campaigns of two other Democrats, Representative Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri and Governor Michael S. Dukakis of Massachusetts.
What a negative campaigner! He's sinking in the polls. He's killing the Democratic party. He's got no future.
Both campaigns have acknowledged that they counted half the cost of their commercials broadcast in Iowa against the state's spending limit. They counted the other half as fund-raising expenses, which do not count against state ceilings. Unfair Advantage Feared.
Gore is such a purity troll! Dukakis is so much more seasoned and he'll wipe the floor with Bush. That genius Estrich will put him a tank and that 'll show how he's strong on national defence. Southerners are so annoying too! What we need is a good well spoken pol from New England to show America how it's done. We need a Professorial type and that is fer shure.
Most campaigns have come close to the spending limit of $775,217 in Iowa and $461,000 in New Hampshire, and many are accusing opponents of gaining an unfair advantage by illegally exceeding the state limits.
And i'm sure this'll happen again.
Here's a bit of 1997 stuff:
long clip. Check out Joke Line! Still being a "serious liberal" toeing the Republican Party line. See first 10 minutes. Ed Rollins reckons Gore's got no integrity and broke the law.
Who voted for Reagan and Bush in the 1980s?
