Has Chris Matthews been in a coma for the last 8 years? Or is he just a liar and phony?

Fri Oct 12, 2007 at 03:11:21 PM PDT

Something is wrong with Matthews.  Today he acts all bent out of shape when one of his guests implies he was less than fair when Gore was running the first time, as he is spewing angrily back at his guests who disagree with his desire that Gore should take it to the Clintons and screw them.

It's not just his irrational hatred of the Clintons.

There's more.

While he is playing the "I'm against the war, always have been and that's why I hate the Clintons" game, he seems to clearly have some truth problems.  As I sit here writing, he is now telling Howard Kurtz how he has no problems with pressure because he doesn't care.  What a freaking phony liar!!  This man has kissed up to the likes of Tom Delay.  Sheesh, I (and couple thousand others), witnessed Matthews comment to Delay (when they both thought they were off the air): "Hey, thanks Buddy, I owe you one."  What the hell does that mean?  And then of course they both proceeded on a sexist conversation about how men will never like Hillary because she is so shrill and men don't like shrill.
I have watched Matthews suck up to Fred Thompson and Rudy Guiliani and then he has the cajones to brag about he is no beholding to anyone.
WHAT A CroCK of CrAP!

He despises Hillary because of her policies over Iraq?
Give me a freaking breaking.  He ADORES John McCain.  Who has been more pro war than McCain?   The most I have heard him say about McCain is "I disagree with him about the war but he's a great guy?"  HUH?

And Guiliani.  He adores the gritty, easterner.  He says iconstantly that "Guiliani is America's mayor, the real hero of 9/11".   And yet Guiliani is clearly so pro war!  What the hell?!

Next, the Anne Coulter vs Donnie Deutsch deal.  Excuse me?
Matthews goes all serious on how Coutler insulted the Jews.
NOW, he finds Coutlergeist a problem.   He snickered all through her garbage for years as he had her as a guest many times over!  If he is half the "hardballer" he thinks he is, then why would he have her as a guest more than once?   Seriously, her insults of others have always been her schtick.  NOW it matters?  I say MATTHEWS is a PHONY and a LIAR!

This is not about whether you are anti Hillary or pro Hillary, or pro or anti Obama or pro or anti ANY DEM candidate!  This is about the personal vendettas of some of the punditry getting played out in public. To me, Matthews, if not the worse, is the most obvious (not including FOX of course since they are a joke). I also find him the most offensive because he is consistently a hypocrite and liar.

Someone needs to call Matthews (and others) on their personal digs.   I could see in the faces of a few of his guests today, there was some biting of their tongues as Matthews pretended that the reason he was all about trashing Gore in 1999 was because Gore was a bad candidate with no issues, ignoring how much people like himself and some of his colleagues, lied, spun and literally mocked Al Gore (going after his looks, his dress and his "sighing" and and spinning the lies about the Internet) much the same as the way Matthews is lying about, spinning about and mocking Hillary Clinton.

Sadly, despite his desire to see Obama trash Hillary, I would bet a year's salary if Obama gets the nod, Matthews will be trashing, mocking and mocking him as he aids and abets one of his right wing buddies to win the presidency.

I think I must have a masochistic streak.  I despise the man and yet at times, I cannot resist.  Today I wanted to watch because I knew they would be talking about Gore.  And I had to hear him.  I wanted to see how he would squirm out of how badly he treated Al.
And all he did was lie.

And now he is doing the exact same thing to Hillary.  Again, this is not about being pro Hillary.  It's like I am reliving the nightmare.  During the Gore Campaign, I did not have this blog (or any for that matter) and I did not get to watch cable as much (as I was working).  But I clearly remember the pundit class being all over Gore for stupid things.  I was stunned at how they mocked him at debates, and gave W high marks for just showing up and not being a dolt.

I clearly remember Matthews and Russert pushing for W, while implying all kinds of negatives about Al Gore.
Deja vu and dammit I want someone to call these jerks on it.  They have blood on their hands.

        •  I know and that is what makes me (5+ / 0-)

crazy.  I want someone to confront Matthews with his own words.  I want someone to play the tapes for Matthews and when he is going all "anti-war" and playing the "Peace" card, I want them to call him out and lay some blame at his feet.

He worshipped Bush all through the run up to the war and said "everyone really likes this guy, except for the whackos on the left."

I want someone to say to his face "NO, Chris, not everyone liked and in fact most sane people got what a dolt he was, knew what a lying phony he was as anything and everything he got was because of daddy."

Again, whether one was a Bill Clinton fan or not, the hypocrisy is so obvious.  Bill rose ABOVE his circumstance and despite his personal imperfections, he did some amazing things.  George W. was born into money and connections and has screwed up everything he has ever touched including our government and our country.  And still this hypocrite Matthews and his cohorts cannot see the forest for the trees.

it will be Giuliani. Did you hear him explaining away the boos at Yankee Stadium? Funny how the people who know him the best aren't all that thrilled with Giuliani. Yet, they kind of like Bloomberg who is also a Republican. I watch Chris a lot because I am a political junkie. I even stroll over to Redstate occasionally to get their take on things.
Two things that should make Matthews cringe are his praise of Coulter when she was on his show, and (if there is something on YouTube somewhere, please post it) his absolute fawning over Bush on "Mission Accomplished" day. The aircraft carrier thing, in its entirety, should be preserved for all future generations to see how people bow before peer pressure, and nascent fascism, and lose any judgement they ever possessed.

    •  I think Matthews (7+ / 0-)

will be supporting Guiliani for sure.  And he really does spin for Rudy.  Not just the Yankees incident.
Have you heard Matthews go on and on and on about the Clinton marriage?  Then three seconds later he spins about "hero" Rudy. Never once has Matthews questioned Rudy's maritaly infidelity!

And, you are so right.  His drooling over Bush on "Mission Accomplished" was so pathetic, so sick!  I do hope someone has it on YouTube.

Another thing that sticks in my craw is when Matthews said about W: Everyone likes him, except for whackos..on the left.

I could write and entire diary on Chris Matthews drooling over and flattery of the right wingers in government.

Sum it up pretty nicely.  Tweety jumps on whatever bandwagon happens to be passing through town that day.  I will say though that there was a clip on a thread post here last night where he demolished Michelle Malkin.  So he has some shred of credibiltiy left.

  •  Matthews' emotional/psych developm't arrested @17 (7+ / 0-)

Chris Matthews always struck me as a man whose emotional/psychological development was arrested during his teen years.  He is incapable of understanding the gravity of serious events, like the Iraq war --rather, he sees such things as mere contests, not much different from a Friday night hometown football game.  He is classically shallow, and it comes as no surprise that he has carried vast amounts of water for the pridefully ignorant Bush administration.  Exactly the type of shallow character the MSM needs to propagandize Americans.

When Mr. Matthews appeared on John Stewart's program recently, he was entirely obtuse to his own immaturity.  Matthews was hawking his new book, "Life is a Campaign".  Apparently, it is an attempt to seriously equate living one's life with a political campaign.  Matthews' great insight? It turns out you have to listen to other people! Matthews arrives at this conclusion rather late in life... but sadly it is not a "better-late-than-never" moment.  Listening, Matthews tells us ... well... "that's how Clinton got all the chicks".  Maybe I'm being generous is guaging Matthews's arrested development at age 17. 15? 13?

Perhaps Matthews's own life is like a "campaign", full of fakeness, disingenuity, deceit, and vainglory, but I think most decent Americans wouldn't ever think of their lives as a political campaign.

It`s pretty funny, the left see him as a right wing tool and the right wingers  see him as a left winger.
I kind of think Matthews just believes in what`s good for matthews. If s democrat gets elected in 2008 he will fawn all over the dems.
I`m pretty sure he is a registered democrat because when he had Kwesi Mfume on right after the primary he told him he voted for him.

But facts are facts: He has had Coulter on as his guest many times, and compliments her.  I heard him.

He kisses up to Delay and drools over Guiliani and Thompson.  He was horrid and unfair to Gore all through the campaign before 2000.   He spun FOR Bush for years.  And now, despite hating this war, he will ONLY go after Cheney.

He has defended the right way in so many ways. I am sure youtube has a lot of it.

    •  Yes, I do think it is getting worse. (0+ / 0-)
