I really wasn't going to post this because of the barrage of Gore posts already, but I didn't see this mentioned.
CNN claims to have talked to a source who said that Gore "definitely has the ambition to use the peace prize as a springboard to run for president."
Unfortunately, it's followed up with this:
But he will not run, because he won't take on the political machine assembled by Sen. Hillary Clinton, said the source. If the senator from New York had faltered at all, Gore would take a serious look at entering the race, the source said. But Gore has calculated that Clinton is unstoppable, according to the source.
To be honest, while I'd love to see Gore run I really never thought that he would. But this makes it sound like he actually wants to run, but won't because the Clinton machine is "unstoppable."
So what do you think? Can a bit more prodding nudge him into the race now and convince him that Clinton is not inevitable? Or is he right, and it's already too late?
