Just on the heels of the story about the abandonment of Feingold, there was a black, empty void of leadership that churned my stomach with stress. Kos popped onto the TV and filled that leadership void, and it made me feel a lot better. Now, on with the critique...
Markos was a bit nervous, as you'd have expected anyone who's not used to television to be. I wouldn't have done better myself, I almost certainly would have done worse.
But public presentation skills are hugely important. Lots of us have the guts to write for a huge audience, but can we speak comfortably to a huge audience?
Nowadays, we don't have any orators with skills like orators from the past. The President sucks at public address, but he's a lot better than most of us non-tv people.
When you have an audience of millions, if you're not stuttering and your mind isn't racing so fast that you're incoherent, you're doing well.
Even when you've had years of TV experience, you still have subtle forms of social anxiety amplified by the audience of millions, which can lead to foot-in-mouth moments.
The better Kos gets at public speaking, the better for everyone that shares his values. Good job Markos, but keep workin on it!
