I can't help myself, the idea that we may elect a woman to the highest office in our country is a truly exciting one. We have come a long way, but we still have not reached the elusive "there". Women STILL do the bulk of child raising, STILL make only 75.3 cents to the dollar of what men make, STILL in many households do most of the cooking and cleaning, are STILL less than 20% of CEOs and are STILL fighting to hang onto reproductive freedom.
A Woman President.
It's about time!
I was raised by a single mother. She struggled and worked tirelessly and remains today a far left Liberal Democrat. She LOVES Hillary Clinton, and has great respect and admiration for all our the Democratic Nominees.
I've always had hesitations about Hillary and the sense that she should wait to run, but she has not failed to be impressive in all of the debates thus far. She has proven that she has what it takes and would likely be the least vulnerable in the general.
Al Gore is the person I hope to be voting for in 2008. And in our primary, I will be voting for Obama. That said, I'm still very excited about Hillary Clinton's campaign and the idea that she may become our President.
Hillary is tough and she has mastered the trade of politics. She is extraordinary at debating, handles herself well and will not make the mistakes that Kerry made in relating to "the people". She has what it takes to win the general election.
Hillary Clinton IS change. Every single one of our presidents has been a white male. By electing her, we would be moving forward as a country (if she chose Obama as her VP-even better).
Hillary Clinton would do an excellent job as president and finally break the ultimate glass ceiling.
My young daughter's perspective on what is possible would be altered.
It's time.
