New Mexico has the opportunity to truly become the "Land of Enchantment" if Lt. Gov. Diane Denish enters the race for U.S. Senator.
Understand, she's in the drivers' seat regarding her decision. There is no other woman in New Mexico politics that commands the respect, admiration and popularity that our Lt. Gov. attracts.
Lt. Gov. Denish knows that she can be our next Gov., that's a given, but fate has worked it's wiley ways, and a new opportunity has been placed before her.
New Mexico is in the enviable postion of having the potential to deliver two U.S. Representative seats and a U.S. Senate seat to the "D" column.
Pearce and Wilson can fight it out for the privilege of facing the Democratic challenger for the Senate seat in the general..and that may be fun to watch. Fortunately, I believe both will lose to our formidable Lt. Gov.
Diane Denish, a true progressive candidate, is by far stronger than Chavez state wide..but..and this is important, where she can really make a difference is down south, where we tend to be a tad more purple. She has been genuinely responsive to the citizens of southern New Mexico and we acknowledge the effort Lt. Gov. Denish has put forth to make sure that our voice is not lost in Sante Fe.
When discussions regarding a possible senate run first surfaced I started talking to many of my more conservative (heck, some of them are just Rush Limbaugh conservative) acquaintances about a possible run by Ms. Denish. The response has been much more positive than even I expected, with many offering support of time and money. The fact that she has performed as a true "servant of the people" and that she understands that that means ALL the people, and not just Albq. and Sante Fe has the potential of bringing her a big payoff...and one that is well-deserved.
Lt. Gov. Denish is seriously considering a Senate run. It is not off the table, not even close. She also happens to be the sort of progressive, responsive and ethical candidate that we need for true change in Washington D.C.
So, let her hear what you think about a possible run. Post here or click on the link and email her campaign. I'm happy to be a supporter of her run for the Governor's office, but U.S. Senator Denish would be something we all would benefit from.
You can email the Lt. Gov. at her
website or comment below. I know her campaign is reading DKos.
