WASHINGTON -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell knew last week -- at a time when he was denying it -- that his staff had sent e-mails encouraging reporters to look into the background of a 12-year-old boy used by Democrats to support expansion of a health-care program.
Update: The Mitch McConnell story is currently up to #2 on the "Top Clicks" and they've moved the story to the top of the page. Also, another new reader comment highlighted below.

If you've been reading this site, then you know all of this already. However, my goal today is to get this story to the top of the "Your Top Clicks" section (left column) of the Courier Journal.
So, if you don't mind, please click on the story.
Then, if you really want to have a good time. Check out some of the reader comments. They range from reasonable discourse...
I think it's okay to investigate the facts surrounding a group that might be attacking you politically, and thus I don't blame McConnel for wanting to make sure this family was legit - and I'm a huge supporter of SCHIP.
That being said, lying about it is a whole other matter. So is trying to leak the family's address to your base.
... to hilarious quips.
Mitch just taps his foot and takes a wide stance on so many issues.
Update:
Stand back everybody, the Senators pants just burst into flames.
Feel free to register and add your own opinions, and don't forget to click on the story. I want to keep that up on the Courier's home page for as long as possible.
Thanks.
