George Bush is no laughing matter

I just had a good heart to heart with my Mom, a Republican of at least 40 years who has recently become a democrat (Thanks to GWB).

Our discussion was interesting, in that she felt I treated the whole GWB presidency and the Hell we are approaching as a laughing matter.

Well....  Join me below the fold for my insight (response?)

The whole premise of my response was "laugh or cry" and I have done too much crying already.

Unless I am able to ridicule the president and his supporters (24%), then I will have to write off the United States as a lost cause.  I am not  yet there, although I am close.

I am very serious about the havoc this administration, along with its enabling congress, has imposed on this good nation.  However, if I am not able to take it with a grain of salt, then I will be too paralyzed to do anything about it.  That is a situation that I do not want to find myself in.

I told my Mom for the first time that if this struggle required me to take up arms against "the establishment" that I would gladly do so, even if my loss would mean a son without a father and a wife without a husband.

So, yes, I do make light of Bush and his ilk at times, but I realize that their threat to this nation and its founding principles is severe.  Therefore, when it comes to action, I am there.

•  Laughing at Bush is a good thing.

  It helps establish that we don't respect him or his criminal activities. That we know he's incompetent, stupid and evil.

  Ridiculing him is the correct approach to any tyrant, even as we conduct a serious effort to remove him and restore our Constitution, and bring our troops home.

  Chaplin ridiculed Hitler. That didn't mean we weren't fighting him with everything we had. We did. Humor was a useful tool in fighting that bloodthirsty buffoon.

  This guy Bush is much less formidable. We can beat him. Let's start by removing his veneer of legitimacy. Laugh at the SOB.

  I have shed some tears during GWB's term-just last week when SCHIP didn't make it through the House. But I keep trying for change especially on the local level. If I don't keep trying-how can I look my kids in the eye?
