The former Nebraska Governor and Senator Bob Kerrey is not running for a 2008 Senate seat being vacated by Chuck Hagel. Kerrey and his family have decided to stay in New York City where he is the President of the New School University (home of the Bravo show "Inside The Actors Studio"). The Lincoln Journal-Star bring us this news:

After a few Bob Kerrey diaries on daillykos.com, in the past this site has been pretty hostile to the chances of him running for numerous reasons, including Liberman-esque stances such as encouraging democrats to go on the air with Don Imus, as well as possible war crimes. This comes despite Kerrey being one of the least conservative representatives to come out of Nebraska in a very long time.
However yesterday, the New Nebraska Network carried a piece about Kerrey encouraging democrats not to boycott Fox News debates:

This was a move to get even the most conservative Nebraskans behind him, but overall is probably not good for the the bloggers on the left. Some may consider his remarks a direct shot at the blogs by calling the boycott of Fox News debates "blog-led". The New Nebraska Network has a different take on the situation. Even though Kerrey is out of the race, this move may be replicated by the democratic candidates who do end up running. Keep an eye out for that.
Who will run in Nebraska now? Who can win Nebraska now? Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey and former 3rd district contender Scott Kleeb's names have been tossed around, but their Nebraska-wide appeal is still unknown. The democratic candidate would end up running against republicans: former Lincoln mayor/former governor/former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns, current Nebraska Secretary of State Jon Bruning, or other minor players in the Nebraska business community who could get the "Club For Growth" vote and money.
