As I am sure most of you know the SCHIP bill was recently vetoed by President Bush. You may also then know that a House override attempt failed last week.
This of course is just the latest in the seemingly never-ending string of letdowns our government has handed us.
I’m done waiting!
Done waiting for someone to present me with a proper candidate.
Done waiting for my government to represent me in the world in a way that I can be proud of.
Done expecting simple humane treatment for sick and underprivileged children.
I’m done waiting... I’m getting more involved. And I’m starting here.
My daughter is three years old and she has juvenile or type I diabetes. We started a blog two months ago in the hopes of educating our friends and family about the disease.
Since then Arden’s Day has done much more then I intended. Not only have I been able to educate my friends and family but I’ve helped collect almost six thousand dollars in donations for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation!
I won’t try and hide why I’m posting. I want to help find a cure for my daughter’s disease and I need help. Over 33,000 people visited Daily Kos in the last hour. Just think what would happen if they all donated just one dollar...
You can get a very real look at what life is like for a child that lives with type I diabetes at our site
You can make a tax deductible donation to the JDRF in Arden’s name here.
If today’s attempt is a successful one I propose that we find 11 other worthwhile charities and make this selfless act of giving a monthly event here at Daily Kos! 33,000 voices an hour can’t be ignored.
Thank you!
