Sorry Barack Obama - It's just not good enough

I have an idea: there are people in our country who hate African Americans, white supremacists and the like. But they vote. And it would be nice to have their votes. So what if we put together a tour with some white suprematist for candidate X to appeal to a very conservative audience in say, Texas. Oh, and for balance, we'll invite Jessie Jackson on the tour too. Sound good? What, your horrified? Say it is not acceptable? You're absolutely right. Now you see how I feel as a gay man over the entire McClurkin/Obama thing. I have been fuming about it all day. Join me for discussion below
Now I read that, in addition to inviting a gay minister from South Carolina, some Obama supporters have published an open letter saying, "We know McClurkin has said some hateful things but a lot of people in the African community feel this way and Mr. Obama wants their votes." I see.. And then they have the audacity to write, I'm paraphrasing now, "This is the opportunity to heal the differences between the African community and the gay community."
As a gay man, can I tell you how appalling this whole thing is? Me inviting some KKK member to some political event would not be acceptable under any circumstances yet it is ok to invite someone who HATES you and present it as unity? You get rid of the hater, you do not bring in someone else as sugar-coating as "balanace".
And what bullshit that this is supposed to be a dialogue between the gay community and the black community. Obama started out just with the hater and then added the gay minister only under massive pressure from numerous groups. And if he were interested in a real dialogue, why not a gay member of the African American community? A group that especially suffers from homophobia in the African American community?
People like McClurkin are the ace in the hole for the Republicans. They know they generally lose the African American community but there's still hope if playing the hate card. Have people like McClurkin spread hatred about gay people, let it spread to some willing ministers and this can divert the votes of some African Americans. Not on policy, not on ideas, but on hatred. And Barack Obama is giving a floor to that.
I supported the firing of Imus when he insulted the African American community and the basketball team. Yet there was no where near the outrage when Tucker Carlson laughed on air that he beaten up a gay man. Or when Tweety speculated that church burnings in Alabama were perhaps the work of gay people. I am so fucking sick of the double standard. I get tired of the muted outrage when it comes to us faggots.
Barack Obama is being cowardly. He wants votes from people so he wants to get them by playing into biggotry and hatred. This is a man of vision?
And to the African American poster who posted yesterday that "It is good enough for me," I say with all due respect, it is not good enough for me.
Would she also be willing to accept a white supremacist if Jessie Jackson were invited too? I'm calling bullshit.
[Sorry for the lack of links here, I am just too outraged now. The open letter thing can be found on Huffington Post]
