Seriously, how is Chris Matthews going to spin his hypocrisy if it is Hillary vs Rudy?

Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 03:33:55 PM PDT

Chris, the hypocrite, Matthews has a problem.
So does Chris, the misogynist, Matthews.

I am curious as how Matthews is going to lie and spin his way through it all IF it ends up Hillary vs Rudy.

Chris, the phony anti-war pundit, Matthews is pushing hard for Obama.  I don't think Matthews actually gives a damn about Obama. I think he sees Obama as easier to trash and beat than Edwards and Hillary.

Here's my theory and here are the questions I want Matthews people to address (surely they stop here too).

More

Clearly Chris Matthews has an obsessive hatred of the Clintons.  Don't know why.  Don't care.  I would respect the man if he was just honest.  He is a closeted right winger.  He is openly misogynistic.

But his hypocrisy has to be addressed.
Well, it will have to be if it is Rudy vs Hillary.

Matthews has been trying to spin his open hostility toward Hillary as being a part of his anti-war stance. However occasionally his misogyny jumps out (e.g. shrill, nails on a chalkboard voice, his tete a tete with Delay, and his comment today that "people at Fenway behind me were saying we really can't have he as president, can way.).

And of course at least three times today, Matthews made a dig at Bill Clinton's basic morality.  "Does he believe in anything?"

So I would like to publicly challenge Matthews and if his producers are reading, to address his own public morality, misogyny and honesty.

Matthews is obviously bothered by Bill's "women" problem.
**So Mr. Holier than thou Catholic Matthews, what is your take on Rudy's women problem?  You never mention it.  Rudy was openly cheating on wife #2 and that seems to not bother you.  WHY?  Why can Rudy cheat, Rudy's wife be on her third marriage, and yet it's Hillary and her husband's morals and marriage that worry you?

Matthews is obviously upset about the war and never fails to mention how "Hillary is such a hawk" and is willing to keep our guys there for a long time.
"So Mr. Anti-war Matthews, how come you openly admire Rudy's tough stand, really like McCain, and think Huckabee's got something really likable about him, and yet all three of these men make Hillary look like a dove?  Explain please."

Matthews really wants a hero to worship.  And it is clear he could never admire a woman or a democrat.  He likes heroic, tough guys.
"So Mr., I need a hero, Matthews, how do you juxtapose your "sunny nobility" comment about how you feel about George W with a man who blew up frogs for laughs, a man who thought firebranding butts in a fraternity was no worse than burning someone with a cigarette, mocking a woman going to be put to death?"  Really, how do you do it?
And it is obvious Mr. Matthews, you want to blame it all on Dick Cheney.  While I despise the VP, your president is every bit as nasty.  When are you going to address the truth.?

There are about a 100 more issues of hypocrisy Chris Matthews needs to face but I would be content if he addressed just these right now.

By the way, if indeed it is Hillary vs Rudy, I will be working my arse off for her (as I will if it is John vs Rudy or Obama vs Mitt or any combination.)  But I have to admit it, I look forward to seeing Matthews squirm through a Hillary vs Rudy.  How is he going to get on his "hate the hawk" bandwagon, or hate the marriage scandals,  when mentioning Hillary if her opponent is Rudy.

Challenging the hypocrisy of the same jerk who trashed Al Gore relentlessly, helped put this idiot into office and now plays "anti war" on his show, is satisfying even without tips.

Matthews (and his colleagues who drooled over the frat boy and trashed true patriots' candidacies) owes Americans an apology, not more of the same old, same old.

remember the draft from our childhood.
I am the same age as Matthews, raised not to far away from his all wasp neighborhood.

Is one's anti war stance real because one has children?  Are you saying if one does not have children, specifically sons, they have no basis for anti war?

Where was Matthews anti war stance in 2003 when he was still drooling over phony fighter pilot Bush and trashing Kerry?

          •  I think his kids being that age make the war (0+ / 0-)

a real issue for him.  How many parents on this site wrote diaries/comments about how they would send their kids to canada if there was a draft?  It's a very real fear.  I am in no way implying that you can't be anti-iraq without having kids.  I don't have kids and I think consider myself anti-iraq.  I think he was one of the only people in the traditional tv media that asked questions about whether iraq was as dangerous as bush claimed it was.  I don't think he or the restof the chumps on tv questioned authority as hard as they should have but as I remember it he was one of the few that wasn't outright cheer leading.

his drooling admiration of Bush dressed in a flight suit, under a phony banner of MISSION ACCOMPLISHED cheerleading for the war.

He described Bush as having a sunny nobility. And that's not promoting the man who manipulated this war.

You cannot have it both ways.

              •  Did you read my post? (0+ / 0-)

I think he loved the photoop.  I think he also realized that if the war went badly then it would be remembered as a giant mistake.  The two are not mutually exclusive.

I watched Matthews drool that day.  I remember it.  He loved and admired the idiot in the flight suit.

Yes, I think it is mutually exclusive to admire and drool over the man sending people's children to die in a war for profit and oil and then say you think it's a bad war.

A war is an inanimate idea.  The action of waging war is man made.  And the action of waging a war based on lies, allowing other people's sons and daughters to die because of your lies and greed, is created by a human.

How the hell can one say they hate the war and then drool over, admire with the words "sunny nobility" (as he applied to Bush) the man who is waging that war.  Sorry it does not compute for me.
There is no defense for Matthews hypocritical stance.

enamored with Guiliani, McCain or Huckabee who have all said they will continue and even increase the Bush strategy?

If Matthews was so anti war, why was he drooling over Bush in a flight suit?

Just cause he has sons doesn't make him anti-war.  Caring about other people's sons and daughters and NOT supporting the right wing hawks every chance he gets, might show a little of that.  But essentially Matthews has shown over the years the only things he is real anti on is the Clintons, Al Gore and the Mommy party.

because he loves any man who shows a lot of aggressive energy.  I don't know if that's how his dad or grandfathers acted but I assume he idealizes someone who was a very aggressive male that had little use for other people who were not similarly aggressive or are feminine, and by feminine I mean cares about someone other than themselves, in any way.  That's why I think he loves the republican 'daddy' party message and hates democrats and clinton.  He did drool over the carrier landing because it appealed to that part of his personality but he did say that if the war went badly that it would be remembered as one of the worst pr moves ever.

        •  Again (0+ / 0-)

          that's total hypocrisy.

There are people whose parents and grandparents were totally racist.  Does that excuse their racism?

Why are you giving Matthews a pass. He is essentially saying he is anti war while supporting and cheering the warriors.

That would be like someone who is watching two people fight a bloody battle while declaring they are a pacifist.

Matthews is a hypocrite, and a liar, pure and simple.  If he truly as anti war he would be dissing and insulting Rudy and McCain ten times as much as his disses Hillary.

          •  I'm not excusing his misogyny or anyone elses (0+ / 0-)

racism.  I've watched his show for many years and I'm explaining why I think he behaves the way he does.  He has repeatedly made comments about how this war is a mess that will go on for years.  I attribute that to his draft age children.  As a long time viewer that's my opinion.

            •  Well you have every right to that (0+ / 0-)

              opinion.

              I strongly disagree.
I don't think Chris Matthews has a sincere or honest bone in his body.  His kids will never go to war.  They are living high on the hog with daddy being one of Jack Welch's boys.

Matthews is a hypocrite about the war.  If he really cared and worried about his kids or any kids going to war he would want the war to end.  He blasts Hillary about that every chance he gets and yet just today on another show he was proudly bragging how he supports Rudy.  Who the hell is more pro war, pro the Bush strategy , ready and willing to increase the war and spread to Iran than Rudy?  So if Chris Matthews was really worried about his kids going to war why would he be publicly supporting Rudy?

  •  Matthews is a car accident (6+ / 0-)

I watch Hardball because its like watching a car accident - I was and sort of am a political junkie but Chris Matthews is the most repetitive bastard I've ever seen on television.  I guess he has had serious problems with Bill Clinton but he's been kind of easy on Hillary Clinton - but sometimes he is so completely off the mark you wonder about his mental health - like today he said that France's new leader Sarkozy showed politicians everywhere how to respond to questions about their personal lives and that he handled himself well...WHAT THE FUCK? I haven't seen a politician meltdown like that since...ever, or since the last time I saw videotapes of Richard Nixon's Watergate period.  Sarkozy collapsed like a house of cards.  What was Matthews smoking last night?  I switched over during the world series cuz the Red Sox looked like they had it locked up and was amazed at how mentally unbalanced Sarkozy appeared - his head was shaking throughout the entire airplane interview and then he looked like he was having a nervous breakdown when the interview was in Paris.  I wouldn't want that guy in charge of my kids baseball team let alone the leader of my country.  In contrast Matthews says that Clinton didn't handle that subject matter well.  He didn't?  Last time I checked Clinton is the most popular ex-president in the country living or dead or right behind JFK - I guess he did something right.

I think the ONLY reason that Matthews is rooting for Obama is because he thinks Obama has the least chance of winning against Rudy (don't know if I agree, but it's what Matthews thinks).

But he is definitely SICK and perverted when it comes to the Clintons. His obsession with their sex lives and their marriage is over the line.  But what makes it so hypocritical is that his new hero, Rudy, is so far out there when it comes to his sex life and Matthews totally ignores Rudy's and Rudy's wives three marriages.  He also ignores Rudy's penchant for cross dressing.

So it's time voters called Matthews on his hypocrisy.
I don't care if democrats are for or not for Hillary. ALL of us need to stop Matthews (and Carlson and Russert) and their hypocrisy of personal trashing of one side only.

He has refused to take any action to examine the Rudy hagiographya and will let him skate.  His diatribes against Hillary will only escalate.

      •  Question (0+ / 0-)

Did Tweety admit he voted for Bush twice? I know he admitted to voting for Bush over Gore (he hated Gore almost as much as he hated the Clintons -- guilt by association I guess), but what about in '04? Is he just a down and dirty Dem hater?

I heard him admit to voting for Bush over Gore.  And I think his hate for Gore was more than association with the Clintons.
He also trashed Kerry before the '04 elections.  I think he was still calling Bush a hero, and saying the only people that didn't like W were the "whackos on the left."

Rudy with the same attitude then if it's about the cheating.  He gives him a pass.  They never even bring up the fact that Rudy's cheated on wives and been married so many times.  You'd think the Clintons would get some credit for staying together, sticking it out and valuing marriage.

Rudy purposely denigrated his wife and children by announcing their divorce on television before even telling his second wife that she was done.

And Rudy is as pro war as it gets.

So Matthews is appalled by Hillary's hawkishness and obsessed with the Clinton marriage and trashes them with every unsavory, derogatory comment and just today brags on how he supports Rudy.

His reaction to Libby calling up his bosses trying to get him fired really riled him up.  He seems to get similarly fired up about clinton.  Maybe clinton or someone close to him lied to him about the affair and this is his way of getting payback.  I think he is giving Rudy a pass because he is the 'hero' of 911.  Plus he also sports bush's trademark hypermacho BS which matthews seems to get off on.

    •  He's not deeply troubled (0+ / 0-)
