Dayne Walling is running for mayor in Flint, Michigan. He is part of our generation, is experienced and believes politics can be a vehicle for social change that will help rebuild Flint. Many of us know Flint through Michael Moore's movie "Roger and Me." The movie highlighted the town's working-class struggle against corporate interests which seemed to have forgotten the people of Flint were the very ones who helped build the successful company. Dayne has not and never will forget the residents of Flint. The current mayor believes money and promises will get him re-elected. What his opponent does not know is that Dayne has built a campaign not on promises but on action and that the residents of Flint will rise up against status quo. Dayne was just endorsed by the Flint Journal who said his opponent "operates as a one-man band. Dayne Walling would conduct an orchestra." Dayne's youth program is run by experienced young leaders who know how to target and turn out the 18-35 year-old bloc. "Our young voters are ready to fight for Flint's future and I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with them," said Walling upon learning of the Young Voter PAC's endorsement. "We have a common cause in winning this election and rebuilding this city." Dayne is standing should to shoulder with the young people of Flint, let's show him that all of us nationwide are standing there should to shoulder with him as well. Ryan Hersha is running for re-election as a City Commissioner in Battle Creek, Michigan. Ryan serves Battle Creek well and continues to be a rising star in the Democratic Party. He led the fight within the City Commission to pass improved environmental policies and made his campaign carbon neutral. Ryan first won in Ward 5, which is conservative and he won by 11 votes last election cycle. He has made a concerted effort to target all young people-those in college, those who have graduated and those young people who work every day to make Battle Creek a better place for their kids to grow up in. A young candidate himself, Ryan knows the power of the youth vote, "My campaign is dedicated to helping (young people) assume their roles as our community's emerging leaders, not only as front-line volunteers but as voters and candidates as well. Young people bring the positive energy, hope, idealism, and long-term vision that modern politics so sorely needs and I am grateful to stand hand-in-hand with them as we work together for a brighter future." Ryan's Be Heard section of his website shows how committed he is to keeping young people informed and engaged in politics. Let's back him up and help Ryan get re-elected.
