I wish I had never gotten involved in politics. I'm not even very involved except for reading several political blogs and voting. However, I made the mistake of signing online petitions for a couple of netroots organizations. Now my phone is ringing off the hook.
You must understand, I had the telephone installed for my convenience, not everybody else's. It is so I can communicate with folks, not be preached to. And as a single woman who lives alone in a big city, my number is unpublished. My phone sometimes only rings once in a week. And I like it that way. The only way these folks could have gotten my number is that they REQUIRED me to give it when I signed the online petitions. I am on the "Do Not Call" list. I am a hermit. Don't call me.
We have an election here in Washington tomorrow, and I am glad it will be over soon. I am tired of the dead trees in my mailbox. I have studied the issues and candidates, if I'd had an absentee ballot, it would have already been mailed. Your robo-call, your dead tree in my mailbox, your dead electrons in my email box won't sway me. So just go away and leave me alone. Or let me opt out of giving you my phone number, which I pay to keep unpublished. Go away and preach to some undecided voter. Yeah, I'm cranky today.
