It's time for Democrats to get serious about changing the course this country is on. The seriousness and complexity of the problems we face around the world, and at home, is accelerating at an alarming rate. And it's clear that the Bush administration is ill-equipped to handle the challenges at hand.
Since the 2006 elections, the Democrats, lacking the strength of functional majorities (i.e. filibuster proof, veto-overriding numbers), seemed content to hold tight, and wait for the 2008 elections to consolidate power.
The news of the last few weeks proves it is dangerous to continue waiting.
We have the real fallout of Bush's failed policies coming home to roost right now: Pakistan in crisis, bad housing markets, skyrocketing oil prices, dollar devaluation, new (and worse) news on global warming, Iraq. There is almost no discussion, or even acknowledgement, of these issues as serious threats--to security, to economic well-being, etc.
Furthering the issue is the complete lack of professionalism at all levels of the Bush administration. Perhaps their Regents U. education makes them write it all off to prayer...
The point is, the Democrats must make serious attempts to address the issue that the administration has lost any credibility, and has no credible personnel, that are needed in times like this. The people in place are rank amateurs. How many more disasters does it take?
So send the message: Amateur hour is over.
