Restaurant Chain Commercial: "YOU Shower With A Loofah"

Cici's Pizza, according to Wikipedia, is a 707-store buffet chain operating in 29 States.

I just saw their commercials today at the gym and I literally did a double take.

One of the lines in the commercial is

YOU shower with a loofah

          Daughter had a sleepover birthday party, and taking the kids to the buffet was as cheap as ordering pizza, without any arguing about toppings (useful with three picky eaters with radically different aversions in the bunch), and no singing mechanical mouse in sight.

          I also have a loofah in my shower. Am I in the wrong political party?

        the transcripts were pretty nasty, so i am thinking that it might have circulated a lot more than we realize.  i would bet that most of jay leno's, david letterman's, and all the other late night shows' audiences heard all about it, and that is a pretty big group. throw in the daily show and the colbert report (and i would bet that snl did a skit or two about it), and you have quite a number of people who know about it.

    Commercials are plenty full of filling surreal.

    Oh yeah, wait until the Super Bowl. I've seen commercials with all sorts of scary implications, and all sorts of pop culture sub group lingo and such. Pepsi said it was 'all good' or was it coke? When you xerox it, you damage their stinkin' copywright.

    The Beaver and Wally are hip to it, or at least the writers of Leave It to Beaver. It's been around a long time,

    and it's gonna get weirder.

    I remember seeing a commercial back in the early '80's for a soft drink called Quirst. That one featured a couple falling in love and getting married, just as they were at the altar, they got the soda and the announcer says "Enter Quirst" an obvious promo for intercourse.

    You are not imagining things, you are being transmitted multiple, multi tasked imaginings as we speak.

    Which means loofah to you when Bill O is snuck into the pizza.

  since way before Papa Bear developed a preference for them.  Don't forget in Caddyshack when Mrs. Smails asks her husband to "come loofah my stretch marks."

        But they do read the story title and the bylines, so get the gist of many stories quickly.
        Plus people gossip at work, at play and in bars.

  •  That was what - 1980s?

    Some people may still shower with a loofah, but most people I know switched over to more hygienic plastic shower puffs.  (Loofahs are practically petri dishes hanging out in a warm moist environment.  Imagine all the bacteria and fungi - yuck!)

    Of course Bill O is sooooo 1980s so perhaps it is apropos.

  I think, if you asked the Average American Woman (clearly the target demographic, yes?) to free-associate on the word "loofah", they'll come up with "shower" and not "falafel". Many of these women have probably "showered with a loofah" themselves. You're seeing what you want to see, dude.
