Gabrielle Giffords AZ-08 Marries Astronaut

I'm not a Gabrielle Giffords fan. She is my Democratic Representative from AZ 08 elected in the 2006 election with lots of pre-primary help from the DCCC.  I would call her Republican lite. But for you fans of social ceremony, I guide you to the wedding of Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-08) , as presented by the AZ Daily Star.

Yesterday Giffords was married to her astronaut boyfriend, Mark Kelly, in what was billed as a "green wedding."  It was held on a farm in Amado, a quaint area south of Tucson.  Guests ate with utensils made of sugarcane and plates that will biodegrade in a landfill.  Her gown was a borowed Vera Wang.  

Keeping with the cultural diversity of Baja Arizona, the couple was married under a chuppah escorted by a mariachi band.  Homemade tortillas were made throughout the reception.
Robert Reich gave the blessing.

Giffords and her new husband will honeymoon next year after Kelly's third voyage into space in April '08.

I'll be nice and not add any of my opinions, since it is a wedding.

    The ceremony didn't sound all that bad to me.  I usually cringe at this kind of thing, but there might be something very right about making environmental consciousness glamorous.
