Any successful turnaround strategy demands you first stop making things worse.
How much worse can this be:
U.S. Troops Kill Pregnant Woman in Iraq
Combined with this:
US probe finds unprovoked killings in Haditha
The more our overstretched and underequipped soldiers lash out and kill Iraqi civilians, the more righteous armies rise up against us.
This war is going to end not with a bang but a whimper.
The first thing we must demand is that U.S. soldiers retire to secure bases, and stop trying to operate in a country they have completely failed to control in the same length of time as World War II, just about. 38 months after the invasion on the cheap, U.S. soldiers cannot travel anywhere in Iraq without fear of attack. Iraqi politicians who ally with the U.S. are holed up in a Green Zone fortress, smaller than what the U.S. controlled in Saigon, I imagine.
This war is over. The only question is how much worse a disaster for American safety and security is it going to be before we began to heal the situation.
Murtha knows exactly what he is talking about when he says that for the safety of America and its troops, we must pull out now.
Enough of this bullshit. I don't want my future jeapordized by further disintegration of the army and misuse of our troops.
