The Battle For America, Full Throttle Edition

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 12:47:17 PM PDT

The citizens of this nation need a good talking-to, not a talking point. It's time for the citizens to stand up and insist that their elected officials perform their duties as public servants and defendants of the Constitution instead of as tin-plated demigods of political voodoo and power-plays.

Earlier tonight, in light of my posting of a video from 2004, I was encouraged to post some additional information about the video, the artist -- anything, actually -- just to get the video out in front of people. Here is that post.

Originally posted to ePluribus Media's new beta site, plus front-paged on ePluribus Media's Community Site and on Docudharma, where I was encouraged to write this expanded version. Please share it widely. Some suggestions are in the first comment.

Thank you.

The creator of the video is one Alrick Brown; the words were written by Max Skolnik.1 There was even a site that hosted the videos -- The Battle for America -- but it appears to be going defunct.2 What prompted the creation of such a powerful piece? The failure of our election process in 2004. Alrick explains the project in a brief blurb on his website. Here's an excerpt, slightly edited and shortened to present here:

A few days after the 2004 election I walked the streets and rode the subways of New York and was amazed at the look of hopelessness on peoples' faces. They stole another election and then we let them cripple our morale as well. They were winning twice. [...snip...] I told him that I would not change or edit his words because whatever passion drove him to write it the way it was should be respected. The purpose of the piece was not to start a movement or a revolution but to inspire those would get up and start the movement, the paper, the website, etc. Max did his job by getting off his ass and writing it. [...snip...] Our simple hope was that people would see this, get up and go out there and do something productive and proactive. It is not time to sulk or complain. It is time to stand up.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
     - Margaret Mead

The video is potent. Here it is again:

Please pass it along, and encourage everyone who is disheartened to take heed: the Battle for America has begun in earnest. Get up, stand up, and let your voice be heard.

Let the creators know that you'd like the site maintained. See if funding is an issue and if there are options to help out. Below is the contact information for the site host (courtesy Domain Tools dot com (formerly DNSSTUFF))-- drop them an email, too, as courteously as you can. •  Tips: (18+ / 0-)

OK, some tips from me to you:

    1. Please contact Alrick Brown and tell him what you think of the video.
    1. Drop a cordial message to Vincent Sabatino (see footnotes) to inquire about the site and whether it will be renewed.
    1. Get this in front of your Congressfolks. Play it on the airwaves. Put it onto public cable television. Put it onto small CDs or DVDs and pass it around. Whatever you do, get others to see it. (Be sure to include links, references, credits and information about the video creator, writer, publisher and hosting site.)

    That's it.

Please rec this up and pass it on.

    Thank you.

I think it's important to take it as far as we can at this point in time -- things have been looking too dark for too long.

This may help cheer folks up.

For some folks here, it'll be a "blast from the past" 'cuz it made the rounds briefly during the aftermath of the 2004 Elections, but even so it's a worthy reminder of the spirit of the people.
