So Rep. Pete Hoestra wrote a letter to the Bush Administration about some whisleblower's information on an intelligence program that he was not aware of. Rep. Hoestra is the chairman of of the House Intelligence Committee. President Bush has always claimed that the WH has brief the intelligence committee on their intelligence programs. I find this to be very curious. What program is this?
Bush's claims to inform the House oversight committee on all intelligence programs has been one of his major talking points. Even though it may be a select number of the intelligence committee he has insisted that he has fulled his executive responsibility by keeping some members of congress informed of the domestic/international spy programs.
We know that the WH has used the NSA to listen to conversations between al-Qaeda at one end and someone here in the States at the other. Oops, he corrected himself and said that some calls may have been between two parties here within the States.
Later, we learn that not some calls but all calls have been intercepted and the originating and destination phone numbers have been captured but no one was listening to the conversations.
Still later we learn that not only all calls but all internet traffic has been monitored in an attempt to locate terrorist cells. But again we don't have to worry because no one is reading the emails.
Then again we learn that all bank transfers over a certain amount anywhere in the world have been monitored to track down al-Qaeda's money.
What haven't we heard about that has one of the Bush Administration's cheerleaders when it comes to intelligence all up in arms writing the President a letter?
I just wonder. How about you?
