Since this was on Olbermann last night I thought someone would diary it, but didn't see anything, and this is too juicy to pass up.
Judith Regan's lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch sets for 24 causes of action for defamation and a variety of other torts. Exciting, fun, and full of potential for schadenfreude. But for sheer delight, nothing beats this nugget from her complaint, referring to an allegedly defamatory article in the New York Post:
In fact, after the story was published, Mark Jackson (in-house lawyer), and lawyers for News Corp., admitted to Regan that the NEW YORK POST article was defamatory per se, but tried to assuage Regan's frustration by telling her that the admitted defamatory statements did not matter because "no one believes what they read in the NEW YORK POST."

Well, there you have it folks, an admission of the utter unbelievability of a flagship News Corp. publication.
I'm sorry to break this shocking news to everyone, we all have depended so much upon Rupert Murdoch for our view of reality and the truthy facts necessary to make important judgments.
Now that News Corp. has become a trendsetter in this crucial area, perhaps we will start hearing related statements from others in similar circumstances:
☞ Attorney for Rush Limbaugh: "No one seriously believes that Rush is a sane human being who doesn't make up his facts."
☞ Attorney for Ann Coulter: "I can't find anyone who believes that Ann has a firmer grasp on reality than does Rush Limbaugh."
☞ Attorney for Sean Hannity: "Do you really think there's anyone who believes that Sean isn't the Pillsbury Dough Boy after being injected with Drano?"
☞ Attorney for Alberto Gonzales: "Even I don't believe that the former AGAG could have forgotten everything he said he forgot. Hell, I don't even know as much as he said he forgot."
☞ Attorney for Karl Rove: "Do you think that anyone believes that the name Turdblossom isn't a true reflection of the man?"
☞ Attorney for Dick Cheney: "There isn't anyone who believes that if he stands up to Dick he won't get a load of buckshot in the face."
☞ Attorney for George W. Bush: "Only one person believes all the sh** the President says. And that's the President himself."
