Mayor Martin Chavez, Democratic candidate for the New Mexico Senate seat, came out swinging at Congressman Tom Udall before the later even declared his own candidacy earlier this month. You’ll recall that the Mayor is not a favorite of progressives in New Mexico or across the country (evidence here, here, and here.
A few days ago, he launched his sparkling new campaign website, a great tribute to the good work over at Articulated Man.
But what’s the deal with Marty’s Facebook account? I can see his profile because I’m also a part of the "Albuquerque, New Mexico" network. If you’re not, though, you have to be an approved friend to see his whole profile. If you try to check it out, here’s what you’ll get: http://good-times.webshots.com/...
More under the fold...
So what is Marty hiding? Lately, he’s been on a huge kick that Tom Udall was hand-picked by a bunch of politicians in Washington and has been in denial about the real, grassroots Draft effort that took place to urge his candidacy. On November 12, when local New Mexican blogger Heath Haussamen put up a poll, Marty blasted his email list:

Hello Everyone,
As you know I announced my candidacy for U.S. Senate over a month ago and I look forward to working with you over the next 5 months to become the Democratic Candidate.
A local bloGger [sic] in NM has put up a poll on who should be the next U.S. Senator from New Mexico and today I am asking you to help me send a message to Washington D.C. and let US be the ones who decides that.
Please follow this link and vote for me on the online poll. The poll is located under the Joseph Cervantes ad on the top right of the blog. Please vote for Marty Chavez. Thanks again!
....
Thanks Again,
Marty Chavez
U.S. Senate Candidate
Democrat
My emphasis added.
Sorry Marty, but the results are in. As of Sunday night, Tom Udall still leads 69%-29% over Marty.
And Marty seems to be so bitter that his staff set his Facebook privacy settings so that no one outside of Albuquerque can check out his profile unless they’re APPROVED as friends by his campaign staff. Log on and check it out.
That kind of closed policy sounds a lot more like it comes from someone running for the New Mexico STATE Senate rather than that UNITED STATES Senate, doesn’t it?
