2008 Presidential Debate Set for Nashville!

Wow!  It has just been confirmed that Nashville is going to host one of the 2008 presidential debates!

NashvillePost.com has learned that Belmont University will host one of the 2008 presidential debates. The event will be held at Belmont's Curb Center on October 7, 2008, less than a month before the 2008 presidential general elections.

Typically there are just three debates, so I am thrilled to have one of them right here in my hometown!  For one night, Nashville will be the center of the political universe!  All the networks, the cable news shows, the pundits, and - dare I say it? - the DAILY SHOW will be right here in Music City!!

Tennessee leans Red, but we have a popular Democratic governor and have been steadily growing more purple in recent years.  Hosting a presidential debate will, I think, make people here much more interested and engaged in the election - making the voters more attentive, educated, and likely to vote - all of which, I believe, will help the Democrats!

  I'd say Clinton vs. Romney.

  (My prediction is Clinton/Clark vs. Romney/Thompson.)

  that's the Commission on Presidential Debates' proposal.  Neither candidate is bound to accept the proposal as to location, format, or moderator.  It's usually a starting point for the ultimate negotiations.

    I'm in North Alabama, only 2 hours from Nashville.  I may have drive up even if I can only stand outside.

    Who cares WHO will be debating?  Any Democratic candidate in the race could wipe the floor with that gang of drooling doofuses running for the GOP nomination.

  On the whole, this has been a pretty good week for Belmont.  First they finally sever their ties with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, and then they get this.  They are clearly a school on the rise.

  My alma-mater Hofstra University won the last debate. I graduated last May and we were already trying to bring the debate there then and thought he didn't have a chance

  In a Clinton-Giuliani race, which is unlikely, Long Island becomes a major battleground. While Clinton will carry the state, Long Island is probably equally divided between the two...both are popular there.
