John Bolton gets a Smackdown

I linked to this YouTube clip from the Unapologetic Mexican

I'm still trying to determine where it is from, it seems like it was taped in the U.K., but anyhow...

I can't recommend this clip enough.

It is a panel conference with john Bolton and it looks like Benazir bhutto is there as well.

The highlight of the clip is an Iraqi woman nailing an obviously flustered and pissed off John Bolton and Des Brown
I cant really add anything as far as summary, because the clip speaks for itself.

This isn't an advertisement, just a quick posting by someone who does not have enough to make a full diary.

I'm hoping that this will be something that can be posted all over the place!

Bolton gets slammed!

A short summary just added. Im not very good at it:
The panel discussion is on the war in Iraq. Apparently, due to the nature of later comments from tha ausdience, Bolton and Brown accused the Iraqis in the audience of having collective memory loss regarding Saddams dictaorship.

An Iraqi woman in the audience refuted Bolton and Brown by saying that she believed that it is the US government who is suffering from a collective memory loss regarding Saddam Hussein, because they had a chance to get him in the 1990’s gulf war, and let it go. Then down the road decided to make him a Pariah in order to justify an Iraq invasion.

Bolton countered with the same song and dance about  Saddams brutal dictatorship and how we should have taken him out back then to which the woman replied:<block quote> "John, my relatives are Sunni, Christain and Shia, we have been living under Saddam’s dictatorship for 30 years. I have lost more relatives in the past 4 years than over 30 years of Saddam’s dictatorship. So I don’t think that you can tell me how dangerous Saddams dictatorship was"</block quote</p>

      American exceptionalism will not allow us to even consider the comparison.

      Can you imagine the outcry if any prominent American said such a thing? The wingers heads would literally explode.

      I sometimes think that American's so-called optimism and "resolve" is just a thin facade covering our anxiety and our denial.

      Or maybe we're just a nation of dumbasses.

  Tony Benn stung Amb. Bolton with the ending comment (paraphrased) "...you admit you lost in Vietnam; you said you didn't want to die in a rice paddy..."

  This is an allusion to Amb Bolton's own explanation of why he avoided service in Vietnam.  He didn't want to die in a rice paddy for the sake of SE, is basically how his explanation went.  Mr Benn called him a coward at the same time he called him wrong.
