President Bush said today that he expected the next president to be a Republican. He then went on to offer a virtual endorsement of Hillary for President. Bloomberg report today:
President George W. Bush said today that Democrat Hillary Clinton has a better grasp of the "pressure" of the presidency than any other 2008 White House candidate because of her experience as first lady.
"I wish President-elect Bush well," Mr. Clinton said. "Like him, I came to Washington as a governor, eager to work with both Republicans and Democrats. And when we reached across party lines to forge a vital center, America was stronger at home and abroad."
- President Bill Clinton, December 15, 2000
It appears that Mr. 29% is throwing the full weight of his office behind the Republican front-runner in the Democratic primaries. While there hasn't been any official response from the Clinton campaign, this news should boost her poll numbers ahead of the Giuliani campaign.
"There is no question that Senator Clinton understands pressure better than any of the candidates, you know, in the race," Bush told ABC News in an interview set for broadcast tonight, according to excerpts released by the network. He repeated his view that she is a "very formidable candidate."
Will the last member of the Hillary bandwagon please turn off the lights.
