I'll tell you why I don't like ACT BLUE right now. This is just from my point of view. I'm not advocating you shun them or anything, though I am.
I always assumed ACT BLUE was a contribution clearing house in support of the Democratic Party.
Ehhh.... maybe not so much.
I discovered that one of the groups ACT BLUE is sponsoring is a political action committee whose sole purpose is to destroy a particular Democrat running for the nomination. This kind of shocked me so a series of emails ensued.
EMAIL #1: I wrote to them: In your mission statement you state that "ActBlue is a Federal PAC that enables anyone — individuals, local groups, and national organizations — to fundraise for the Democratic candidates of their choice"
But [THE GROUP YOU ARE HOSTING]does the opposite of that. They were founded to advocate against one specific candidate only: [ CANDIDATE X]. From their mission statement: [HERE I QUOTE THE ORGANIZATION'S PLAN TO RUN ADS TRASHING THE PARTICULAR DEMOCRATIC HOPEFUL.]
This is not a group that is advocating for anyone, or any idea, only against a legitimate and honorable Democratic candidate for the nomination. Can you tell me why you think they are an appropriate addition to your directory? How do you know that in the general election they won't continue to advocate against [ HIM/HER ] if [HE/SHE ] should happen to be the Democratic candidate?
ACT BLUE'S REPLY: well, they essentially told me they are obligated to list every Democratic PAC. And that there are many Democrats who don't like Candidate X and that's just the nature of politics. And that others could start a PAC designed to bash Candidate Z. (I am not going to quote directly from the email even though I did tell them I was going to bring this to other X supporters' attention.)

That's just the nature of politics. REELY?? ok ACT BLUE. INNERESTING PHILOSPHY YOU GOT THERE. NOT FOR FIVE THIRTY! I guess I can go to the trouble of contributing directly through the website of the individual I am supporting. No more $$$ for you ACT BLUE.
