The New Hampshire "first in the nation" primary is today. What are Hew Hampshire voters seeing as they go to the polls today?
The candidates
Clark has a couple of biographical/policy ads (as far as I can tell, all of Clark's ads tie his biography to his policy positions). We've taken a look at "Renewal" and "Respect". I am not sure what ads Clark is running at this moment.
Dean is running the post-Iowa ad "Leader" and his "Biographical" ad. He may be running a new ad I haven't been able to find, but that might be "Leader".
Edwards is running his jogging ad and "Now".
Kerry is running with a nice ad with testimonials from New Hampshire voters.
Kucinich has several ads but they are not playing widely to my knowledge.
Lieberman has his "I Love America" ad up.
Issue Groups
This is an incomplete list, but we know that "Army of One", the Marijuana Policy Project's ad are running in New Hampshire. The Nuclear Threat Initiative has also been running ads for a couple of months in New Hampshire (sorry we haven't put them up yet!).
Also, the Club for Growth ran their anti-Dean attack ad on taxes in New Hampshire in December.
Does it matter?
We'll know the results of the primaries later tonight. It seems likely that momentum from Iowa will have a bigger effect on the outcome than any candidate or issue groups's ads. This leads me to wonder if the compressed primary schedule will have an effect on advertising in future races (now that we're used to it). It seems wise for a campaign to focus all its energy on Iowa and New Hamsphire instead of expending large amounts of money to play ads in states which won't matter to the campaign if it doesn't place well in Iowa or New Hampshire.
