After two years of surgery, radiation and chemo, a dear friend of mine with a glioblastoma brain tumor has gotten the bad word -- three or four months left.
Janet knew, all along, that beating this nasty brain cancer was a longshot.
But if anyone could do it, she could -- she's otherwise extremely healthy, very optimistic, has a great support network (especially her husband) and a daughter in college who she wants to live for, and the best treatment available around here (Albany, NY).
But now that she's been told she will die soon, I'm reaching out to this remarkable community to see if anyone here can help.
I should have done this two years ago, but, stupidly, I didn't.
I did the Google search thing and the friendly support thing (including organizing a wonderful weekend in Wellfleet on Cape Cod last year).
Too hopefully, I thought Janet could beat this, because she's Janet.
Despite the bad news lately, Janet is still in treatment, with another new chemo.
I do not know the details of her treatment.
There are doctors, other healthcare professionals, and people with some experience with this disease and prognosis in the DKos community.
Can any of you help my dear friend Janet?
Please.
