That is my 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk. I like my car. It turns heads. It also is a top 30 finalist in The New York Times Collectible Car of the Year contest. I'm blogging about my car today here on the Daily Kos because I've vain. I also know that as D-Kos members, we are very pro-active and get things done. What other community could make Dianne Feinstein (R-lite CA) change her mind on telecom amnesty? So today I'm holding out my hat and asking for your votes. Not for me because that would be selfish but for my lovely Studebaker.

My 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk has won a big first place trophy and a nice second place certificate already this year. This time though, there is cash involved. If my car wins, then I'll get a prize of 5 large which would just about pay for the repairs I need to have done on the transmission ( leaks like a sieve ) and the new disk brake kit ( 4 wheels ) that I need to put on my poor neglected 1961 Studebaker Lark.
I like Studebakers.

In addition to that car, I own a 1961 Studebaker Lark:

And a 1963 Studebaker Avanti:

But today I'm proudly driving the '57 under the Klieg lights of my Daily Kos Diary because it was the one that the people in charge of The New York Times Collectible Car of the Year Contest decided to make a top 30 finalist. From now until the end of the year, you can vote for my car, once per day and I encourage each of you that have read this to do so. Not for me ( OK for me, dammit ) but for my 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk. A car that just 4 years ago was so unloved that it was sold on eBay back when it looked more like this:
A buttload of cash later it was turned into this:

So please register ( it's free ) and vote for my Studebaker. Once a day if you can remember. The $$$ I win will be thrown right back into the car because as any collector knows, it's never complete.
