Let's show Olbermann some love

First let me say I have zero connection with KO, his show, or anything to do with his book

Keith Olbermann has been keeping the flame lit for many of us while the traditional media entered a dark cave years ago. Olbermann's new book Truth and Consequences comes out on December 26th. It is based on his amazing series of "Special Comments" that have had me cheering the television when every other news show abdicated its obligation to the truth many moons ago.

Let's show KO our support and buy this book to prove not only idiots like Coulter and O'Reilly can move some paper.

        Regnery in particular is a total scam. Their book club subsidiary "buys" in massive bulk to inflate the numbers then basically gives them away for $1 of $5 as promo items.

        The pay off? Artificially high sales number get their books on the NYT bestsellers list and the authors get invited on the TeeVee "because they sell books".

        The hilarious part is that a few of the Wingnut authors finally figured out that they were getting screwed on the deal and they are the ones suing Regnery.

    The MSNBC website sort of sucks.  You need to click on a video to watch and then, on the subsequent webpage, there are links to various NBC properties at the top.  Choose MSNBC/Countdown and that's where you can find all of the videos.

  his first special comment had me crying-and proud !!He is a treasure in a time of sewer swamp news.Go Keith--have watched him from his first show and really like the special comments a lot.Too bad they don't use him on the nightly news once in a while.Will get this book the same as the last one which I really enjoyed on the worst person in the world.

    I like his show, too.  He's a gifted broadcaster and he brings a fun, SportsCenter sensibility to his program.

  Why is it that the toughest-on-terrorism Republicans have the closest personal associations with the alleged Islamo-terrorist characters?

  Bush, Cheney, and now Guiliani have ties ( profitable ones ) with some of the most suspect names in the Arab world, Iran and Pakistan.

  Why does Joe Blow GOP car dealer in Kansas city actually believe that his party takes terrorism seriously?

  Olbermann's allusion to the new "firemen"-as-security informants looking for people who are "discontent" with America.. (American policy) as something out of Fahrenheit 451 was stunningly on the mark.

  One voice in the mainstream media who just won't be driven by panic into looney world.. God bless you Keith Olbermann.

  as supporting Democrats and whenever I opened my email I would be offered free books by Bill O', Ann Coulter, etc. out the wazoo.  I was more than willing to pay retail price for Al Franken's, Paul Krugman's, etc. (you get the picture) books and I never once got an offer of a free book.  Then my husband and I were traveling somewhere and we listened to maybe five minutes of Bill O's radio show during which he was bragging about being #1 on the best-seller list.  That was when I figured out what was going on.  Where do these jackasses get enough money to be able to buy millions of worthless books that they try to pawn off on innocent email readers for free?  

  Thanks for urging all of us to buy, actually purchase, this book which I am certain will be well worth the price.  Recommended.

    Five authors have sued the parent company of Regnery Publishing, a Washington imprint of conservative books, charging that the company deprives its writers of royalties by selling their books at a steep discount to book clubs and other organizations owned by the same parent company.

    The poor dumb bastards who thought they were actually getting a real book deal (rather than a scam to atrifically ram Malkin, Coulter, et al. onto the bestsellers list, and, by extension, TeeVee) are suing.

      even more greedy that I had given them credit for.  I assumed that they had so much money that they just bought them.  I am delighted to know that they also chiseled the money out of the wingnut authors who wrote the crap in the first place.  I guess it turns out that they were not satisfied with fake high sales numbers for their books...they wanted the money, too!  Who could have guessed.  hahahahahaha  I love it.  It seems that all concerned my get their justly deserved rewards.

  Please consider ordering the book from Barnes&Noble rather than Amazon.  B&N gives nearly all of its politcal donations to Dems, while Amazon gives primarily to the Repugs (and also loves to have its ads on Ann Coulter's site).

•  I'm in love with KO

  I grew up with my mom's infatuation with David Brinkley and I never got it... until now!

  I'm in tears at the end of each Special Comment, cheering and thankful that someone is speaking truth to power.  

  I've even noticed that Tweety once in a while, recently, gets down to the nitty gritty.  KO is making waves, and others (except poor little rich boy Tucker) are noticing his popularity.

  I had Republican family over at Thanksgiving and introduced one of them to KO by streaming his Special Comment about torture.  The family member could only stand about two minutes of it, and said he didn't like him ~~ but we got into a lively discussion about torture, where this other person finally conceded that torture was wrong.  I was so worn out getting that out of him that I couldn't follow up.  BTW, this family member is an attorney, so I was not only up against a good arguer, but had to overcome the "in the case of saving thousands of lives" meme first.

  I'm going to buy KO's book, for sure, but I'm taking the advice of many here at dkos and heading to my independent bookstore instead (also going to get Naomi Klein's and Wolfe's books).
