The winner of the George Orwell Award for revisionist history goes to Karl Rove after his ridiculous piece in Newsweek asserting that the Democrats rushed the Republicans and President Bush into war by ramming an AUTF through Congress too soon.
Only a meglamaniac like Karl, working in an administration that insulates itself from the "reality-based world," could be so divorced from reality that they would resort to this level of sophistry.
Even Bush brown-noser Andy Card refuted Turdblossom's central charge. According to ThinkProgress, Card insinuated that Rove really isn't that clever.
Well, Karl is very smart. He’s — sometimes his brain gets ahead of his mouth. And sometimes his mouth gets ahead of his brain.
Unfortunately, what Card said doesn't jibe with reality either.
Karl Rove does not make rash decisions. This is part of a calculated plan by the Republicans to build up a Goebbel-esque narrative that the Democrats are the ones that got us into the war, and now they are sabatoging the effort by not giving Bush what he wants.
Dumming it down even further: It's the Democrats fault, stupid.
Even a wing nut on a four day bender on the wood alcohol couldn't come up with as riduculous a theory as Rove did, but when Karl says it the MSM comes running.
As a result, a large amount of coverage will be generated along with the Rovian talking points and the seeds of doubt will have developed deep roots come next November when it looks like the GOP will try to tie Hillary Clinton to the Daschle "rush job."
Rove's theory is crap. Pure and simple.
The White House in early September, 2002 began a coordinated campaign to drum up support for the war. Card is responsible for the often-repeated mantra that you "don't launch new products in August."
Karl has amnesia about the bogus articles planted in the NY Times; the Mushroom Cloud Speech, etc.
He should remember that after 9/11 Bush and the WH used fear to rule this country. That the Democrats were portrayed as weak, feckless, wusses who couldn't protect us. Of course that omits the fact that big tough George Bush failed to protect us despite reading (or having someone read him) an Aug. 6 PDB "Bin Laden Determined to Attack US."
Rove's Stragery worked. The Democrats were divided. Those that voted against the AUTF were seen as weak and coddling the terrorists. On the other hand, the WH knew when the proverbial shit would hit the fan since there was no plan for Iraq other than to divide it up among American multinationals, all they would have to do is point out that prominent Democrats supported the AUTF and saw "the same intelligence as the WH."
Once again the party of "personal responsiblity" proved that GOPocricy lives. Personal responsiblity is nothing more than finger wagging at "sluts" who get knocked up without a husband and "free-spending yuppies who are declaring personal bankrupcy because they ran up a huge bill on Amex."
Personal responsiblity is for little people, Rove believes. However, being small-minded, petty, and vindictive while blaming everyone else for YOUR role in this occupation is so low that even a tiny prick like Turdblossom himself would have to take a kilo of Human Growth Hormone so we can see him with the most powerful electron microscope known to mankind.
