Yeah, you know the drill: The Media Hates Dean!!!
Everyone gets this (those who arent brain dead). And just about every Deaniac has ranted and raged against it here. Now what the Hell are we going to DO about it???
What did YOU do to fight the Media Today???
Shall we sit around on Kos sharing the glow over that golden Sawyer interview, hoping it will carry the day? Bitch amongst ourselves about the media 24/7? Sit around here being clever with each other ...or take IT to the battlefield?
The Media is still ferociously slamming Dean and we still have got to fight TOUGH. The Iowa kill and the media overKill took out some of our stuffing but we have got to FIGHT BACK NOW.
Here are some grim reminders, lest we get lax:
First, this wholly negative CNN title/lead on the absolutely stellar Sawyer interview titled: "I Have All Kinds of Warts" with a lead that says:"Three days after the scream "heard 'round the world," Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean was still trying to explain his frenzied speech following his third-place finish in the Iowa caucuses.

Were we cooled and fooled by that tepid, NYTimes piece served up by ombudsman, Daniel Okrent, in response to Deaniacs barrage of complaints? It didnt do more than scratch the surface of the antiDean crusade (they've aided and abetted, without any sign of letting up) and basically excused the paper.
But the NYT does not deserve such a pass, as shown in Salon's "The Media Vs Dean"
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/01/13/dean_media/index_np.html
And from enemy turf there's Noonan's piece about the NYTimes nasty Judy bit and overall DeanHate. (scroll to third/last section, top paragraph)

Still no fire in your belly? Check out the PHOTO the NYT chose to use, out of thousands, for this piece, yesterday (Caption it: Howard Dean, Gaping Idiot")

Then the extremely out of touch MoDo, the Ms Manners (without any) who will be chained to "The Little Black Dress/ Eileen Ford School of Bitchery" until she becomes an Old Grey Lady, delivers this onto us:"Riding the Crazy Train!" (ie, Dean's too hot to handle that button, America. Dean shares the crazy ride with none other than the REAL lunatic, Bush.)

And we all recall how the Washington Post trashed Dean in "Beyond the Mainstream" where it proudly trumpeted its final step out of the mainstream and over to the darkside when it defended NeoCon~BS and trashed Dean in this EDITORIAL:

But how to be DEANiacs and NOT Weeniacs?
THE MEDIA NEEDS TO HEAR US ROAR, not respond with polite, muted, pretty please emails/phone calls. Not CURSING, but some good healthy RANTS and THREATS.
HERE's WHY: It WORKED for ME
I had an EMAIL back and forth going on with a CNN BIGSHOT after I RANTED with firey outrage over some despicable coverage (not Dean, something else). Afterwards, due to my emails -- and Im sure other p'od emails -- I did note a change in the coverage ... even with on-air comments which spoke to those communications Id had.
Realize: FIGHTing tough WORKED for the DITTOHEADS!
HoneyPies, the Dittos changed the media landscape and they are not nicey-nicey. They changed things (albeit for the worse) as noted in the SCLM points made by many, including Alterman.
It'll work for Deaniacs, too.
But first we've got to WORK IT! So, What CAN we do to fight the Media TODAY, tomorrow and every day?
