Wow! That was nuts!
I never thought I'd spend $1,000 in one trip, on candy, dvd movies, and games.
More stuff, if you jump ..
2 shopping carts full of stuff. (Not all the candy is shown) We've got tons of dvd movies, Sudoku books, a couple of novels, some 10-in-1 games, Chess games, electronic hand-held games, playing cards, pajamas, and sandals/flip-flops. We also bought 1 Christmas decoration for each unit.
Kathy also went shopping last night, and dropped about $400 on candy, snacks, puzzle books, calendars, coffee, tea, socks, laundry soap, and misc. toiletries ...
Our friends at Tri-City Localhave collected over $2100 in goods, including kleenex, writing supplies, misc. toiletries, snacks, and microwave meals, and several boxes of toys for the Iraqi children. We hope to get pictures of those items up soon.
We only have a few more non-food requests to fill. Then we're on to things like Easy Mac, Ramen Noodles, etc. That's how we will spend the majority of the money.
Overall, Troop Care generated about $7,200 in cash and product donations.
It felt great shopping for the troops. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
