Wow, start with the press conference (what an exercise in nonsense), then the radio Democratic debate (regards to Richardson's family, who had a loss so he could not attend, and rightly so), then all of the pundits jumping on the pileup. What a mess. Here is what I see, and please feel free to correct me severely if you perceive me to be off target.
The press conference was surreal. The President of the United States did not get sensitive intelligence information, dating back to 2003, until last week? I believe that last week was November, 2007. Hmmm, let us do the math. Hell, I am being silly! It is Rove's math!
Then, as the press conference unfolded, we saw nothing except the previous statements when Iran was supposed to be fully nuclear (not "nuckular"). Since Iran is a signatory of the worldwide treaty, it has the right to develop nuclear power for its own edification. Part of that is enriching uranium 235 until it becomes fissile. The difference is that, with a light water reactor, you need about a five per cent enrichment, for weapons around ninety percent. Thus far, Iran has around a five per cent enrichment. Sounds pretty lame to accuse them of weapons.
Then he said, "Well, even if the quit, they could begin again.". So could we, but we have laws to prevent it, if anyone cares about laws. I do. I hope that most of our citizens do as well.
This is actually a rave, and has not been put together cogently, because I have been bombarded with non-cogent remarks all day today. I apologize, and hope that I have not alienated folks from logical discussion in future.
Finally, I find it sad that only Olbermann has taken this on fully in the face. The others sort of ducked and dodged, but KO is hitting hard.
Please tell me how to say this better. Regards, Doc.
