My apologies if this has already been covered, however as I post this there are no diaries on the subject.
This is truly a tragic story. But perhaps the most frightening pieces of the whole story can be found in these chilling words:
Hawkins said in the note he loved his friends and family, but "he was a piece of s--- all his life, and now he'll be famous," she told CNN.
I'm sure the conservative media is preparing to blame this on video games or on violent television and we (on the liberal side of the coin) are preparing to blame it on gun control. Ultimately it comes down to an individual with much deeper rooted issues than whether or not he played Halo, watched 24, or had a relative with a rifle. I understand these clarion calls are meant to rally people towards their respective causes but while I do support gun control, it's neither here nor there in this moment of darkness for our country.
So please, let's leave the rhetoric out of this tragedy and instead look for more constructive ways to make a difference for the people who may be in immediate need of our support.
Please join in sending your support to the Omaha families who now find their world turned upside down by this tragedy.
