A small Kentucky school district in changing the way people look at student expectations.
The Eminence (KY) School District requires its middle and high school students to earn a "B" grade in order to pass each class. Principal Steve Frommeyer says changing the culture was critical to implementing this policy.
"If students can routinely not perform and get away with it, they do other things instead," Frommeyer said. "If their focus isn't on academics, it is on something else."
Raising standards at the school has made a marked improvement in the atmosphere of the school and in student results, Frommeyer said.
"This is the missing link in terms of getting our education reform where we wanted it to be," Frommeyer said.
