In the first HC former Governor Huckabee's destruction of state computers, hard drives, and servers during his final days in office is discussed. Background into his family, including son's history of animal torture, that same son's arrest at the airport for attempting to board an airplane with a gun and ammunition is also detailed.
In the second HC, outlines Huckabee's use of the state plane at taxpayer expense, diversion of state funds to an organization that employed Huckabee's wife, and the governor's use of a disaster emergency relief fund to facilitate the destruction of those state computers and servers as he left office.
Today it's time to learn a little about Mrs. Huckabee.
Despite appearances, Mike Huckabee and his wife are not nice people. Huckabee seems like a nice guy, it's a façade, except that he may indeed be a loyal family guy. On the other hand, the personally politically ambitious Janet Huckabee doesn't even bother to fake it.
In 2002 Mike ran for re-election as Arkansas's governor. Janet also ran for a statewide office: secretary of state. In response to her detractors during the campaign (critical of her use of state resources for campaigning, among other things), she told the New York Times, "If it wasn't for the grace of God, I'd have shot a few people already." While Mike won his election, Janet lost hers.
Why would the First Lady feel homicidally passionate about her run for Secretary of State? It seems that preventing people from casting legal votes is an issue near and dear to her heart. She later placed herself on the front lines as a poll worker:
Some voters and elected officials complained that she was intimidating voters and being down right rude and they want her removed from the Dunbar community center precinct because she's becoming a disruption to voters.
Mrs. Huckabee caused a fuss when she insisted voters produce id to vote, despite the voters' refusal. In Arkansas voters are allowed vote even if to refuse to present id when requested. Apparently First Lady Huckabee, former candidate for Secretary of State didn't know this. She said she didn't care if her demands intimidated voters, so it was a successful day all the way around.
