My first diary went over ok. Meaning that it did not get banned and some people even responded to it. So here goes number two.
Dennis Kucinich is going to do very well on Saturday. (I hope he does better than Paul does with his "tea party Sunday". I don’t know though.) For those who missed the news in the MSM...rather the lack of coverage in the MSM, 15 December 2007 is the 216th anniversary of the Bill of Rights. Oh sure it’s not popular these days, after all it’s old and quaint. Talking about old fashion ideas like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, warrants issued by judges, the right to trail by jury, and such.
To show support of the Bill of Rights, Dennis Kucinich’s supporters are holding a pledge drive. The goal is 100,000 pledges of $100 each. So far it has close to 1200 pledges for Saturday, many in the forums have said they plan on giving even more than the $100 pledge. It’s very likely that we could break $2 million in one day. It could be even more.
In my last diary, I explained how Ron Paul’s supporters were about tapped out. They have maxed out their credit cards, are reaching the max donation level allowed by the FEC (and would have if it was at the lower $1,000 it use to be) and will be lucky to get 40,000 to donate. They might break $4 million.
Here is why Kucinich is going to do much better than Paul in the long run. Kucinich supporters are quite but energetic while Paul supporters are fanatic and loud. Kucinich supporters are drawn from the normal sections of America. They have jobs, families and work hard. Since Kucinich is not taking money from corporate interest or trying to skirt the campaign finance laws (aka blimps). He is counting on normal people reaching into their pockets to say "enough"! They won’t just give $100 that was pledged. It will be more. Some will give $500, others the max allowed. Or like me, I’m doubling the pledge and so is my wife.
Since Kucinich supporters are quite, we don’t tend to put our names in bright lights screaming from the top of highway over passes. We don’t follow the heard, much like cats we do what we think we should do. We can expect three to four times the donations over what was pledged. We can also expect larger than $100 donations because this is important.
As it was posted on dennis4president.com, "With the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary fast approaching, December 15th is shaping up as a turning point for the Kucinich campaign. William Scott Hunter, a Kucinich supporter, started the ball rolling for a December 15th Dennis Kucinich "money bomb" with the potential to electrify the entire Presidential campaign. "Our goal is ambitious," says Hunter, the organizer of www.December152007.com, "but it has to be in order to have the impact Kucinich deserves. In America, candidates are considered ‘electable’ or ‘unelectable’ based on their bank accounts. It’s pretty hard to argue that a guy who can raise $10,000,000 in one day is unelectable."
People are fed up with this war. There is only one candidate who has been against it and refused to vote to pay for it, Dennis Kucinich. By getting the word out we can see major growth in support. Time is running short and anyone who donates on the 15th is getting that message out there. Even if you don’t support Kucinich, think about how cool it will be to have him raise more money than Paul. Do that and watch those Paul "fans" fade away back to their mom’s basements to start paying off their maxed out credit cards.
