I don't have to point to the numerous diaries about David Dreier--even by Kos on the front page--being gay or a "closet-heterosexual".
What the fuck? What are we doing? And don't give me that "It's okay because he's a gay Republican and it makes him a hypocrite" argument. That is bullshit. His hypocrisy is about humanity, not about sexuality.

Dreier could be gay and still believe in the things he votes for. He really could, folks, it's a big wide strange world out there, and lots of funny things happen to a mind. Your minds too. It is not the point. The point is whether or not you agree with his positions.
* I think the fact that he voted against gay marriage sucks. Period.
* I think the fact that he voted against gays having the right to adopt sucks. Period.
I find both the things odious and inhuman, not to mention un-Christian (I say as a non-Christian), regardless of his sexuality. To bring it up--it just leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. (Oh god--a really really bad unintended pun.)
Can we just bash the guy for being odious, please? His odiousness is not about whether or not he's gay. It is especially egregious when so many of us here are on the side of oppressed homosexuals and we use his alleged (I might add) homosexuality against him.
And another thing. I just noticed that I called his actions "un-Christian". Some of you might say: "Ha! Caught you! Why is it okay to call him a hypocrite on the Christian issue and not on the gay issue? Huh? Huh? C'mon, tough guy, let's see you explain that one."
Okay. Christianity is a moral doctrine. Homosexuality isn't. He can be gay, and be a cruel and unkind piece of shit--it wouldn't make him a hypocrite. It would just make him a cruel and unkind piece of shit who happened to be gay.
If, on the other hand, he were a Christian, or professed to be one, he would be a hypocrite of the highest order.
Now for a fucking poll, damnit.
