To the tune of $10 million dollars, the Saudis bought into the Clinton Presidential Library. Of course, if her proponents here are to believed, Hillary is teflon-coated and is inherently unable to be persuaded by people who funded 10% of her husband's library.
The royal family of Saudi Arabia gave the Clinton facility in Little Rock about $10 million, roughly the same amount it gave toward the presidential library of George H.W. Bush, according to people directly familiar with the contributions.
But this does raise questions about the two-fer candidate: Since Bill Clinton has a BFF named George H. W. Bush, did Pappy Bush help Clinton with his fundraising by introducing Bill to his Saudi friends? How is that going to taint a potential Hillary presidency? Is her pro-war stance regarding Iraq and Iran influenced by this?
Bill Clinton has solicited donations for the library personally, aides said, but he also delegated much of the fundraising to others, especially Terence R. McAuliffe, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and the chairman of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
What makes this donation unusual is the size. Most big-dollar donations from foreign countries (Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Taiwan) were around $1 million. American donors topped out around $7 million.
We know what the Saudis buy from the Bushies, what are they buying from the Clintons?
As reported in the Washington Post.
