With the previous vote of 76-10 to proceed with the FISA Bill version that includes immunity, and further Reid (D-NV) insistence on speeding up the deliberations through incorporating 60 vote filibuster votes on each amendment, we now get a very good glimpse of where this thing is headed. It seems that a majority of US Senators want to get the hell out of Washington DC and spend some time with their friends and family while enjoying the holidays.
Does it matter that the Telecoms will get immunity? Oh, it's not as important as spending good quality time with their friends and family. Does it matter that there is serious legislative business to be conducted that critically affects our country's future and sets a precedent on the way we deal with law breakers? Hey hey, the money is good, and the very very important senators need a rest of their extremely tiring hard hard work. Because after all, governing this country is hard work. They all need a well deserved break!
Hey Dodd, your filibuster is annoying and interrupting our desire to finish up our work and get out of here! Didn't you hear your Senate Majority Leader? Republicans said they will filibuster every single amendment so why waste time - let's accomodate them. I think people already purchased their airplane tickets and if we had to vote twice on every amendment, we won't get out of here on time and lots of first class tickets might be lost. Get the real priorities through your head Dodd!
Senator Reid - we all see how you worked these plans out with the Speaker and the Republican leaders and the President. Good work there. Your scheduling abilities are mahhrvelaas. Bravo bravo bravo! Senator Dodd? I think you got your work cut out for you.
