When discussing Democrats, I and other DKos members often worry about the lack of real leadership in our country. Regardless of partisan attachments, citizens in this country trust in their elected representatives. They trust that their leaders will actively fight for their security, their shelter, the food, and above all their freedom.
That's what democracy enshrines: freedom and the liberty to pursue a life of freedom.
I don't know much about Dodd's policies, the details of his candidacy, the laws he has sponsored, etc. But what I do know is that watching him today on C-Span I saw something amazing. I saw someone organize a cohesive and coordinated attempt to stop the passage of a law that would have taken away our freedom. Sure we have to wait until January. But at least that dreadful bill didn't pass today.
Dodd demonstrated leadership today. We need leadership like this at all levels of government. Not only that we should insist on it. It is our right. And if we are truly free, then it is ours not in theory. But in fact. Right now.
I don't have much else to say. I think Dodd said it all today and I am grateful that he helps shepherd our freedom.
What do you think about Dodd today?
