I am quite sure that many of you, like me, wince when your eyes pass over the word "meta". My most sincere apologies. I am wondering how many of you, however, likewise wince when the Edwards campaign completely monopolizes the Recommended List.
No doubt many of you have seen the documentary "Outfoxed". One of the assertions made in the film is that Fox News seems to cut to George W. Bush and give him live coverage no matter what he's saying or doing. They further argue that Fox goes out of their way to make Bush look like a hero on a daily basis.
I am all for touting one's candidate. But honestly, does Edwards walk on water every time he's handed a drinking glass?
Edwards does what politicians do -- he travels, he regurgitates his stump speech, and he occasionally makes wonderful off-the-cuff remarks. I am suprised that we are not informed as to the size, shape, color and brilliance of the man's bowel movements.
Surely there are more important things for DailyKos diaries to cover? What are we really going to learn or accomplish from an Edwards diary, except that we're supposed to vote for him? Since when did DailyKos diaries become an arm of the Edwards campaign?
At no time should Edwards diaries take up 70% of the Recommended List. Are we to believe that Edwards is SO impressive that everyman Kossacks feel an uncontrollable urge to canonize him? Forgive me if I should surmise that, just perhaps, Edwards has a few hundred underpaid staffers singing his praises here.
I want to see tough love. I want to know what some of Edwards' downsides are. I want him held to the fire, but affectionately.
