This morning Bush signed the energy bill which passed the house by a large margin and the senate by a near veto-proof margin. It was rumored that he might veto it if the tax hikes for oil companies weren't removed. They were, and so he signed it.

The bill was delivered to the President in a gas-hybrid sedan.
The legislation signed by Bush at a ceremony at the Energy Department requires automakers to increase fuel efficiency by 40 percent to an industry average 35 miles per gallon by 2020. It also ramps up production of ethanol use to 36 billion gallons a year by 2022.
