Our thoughts turn now to the Holidays--eggnog, gift shopping, caroling, and the fourth quarter FEC report.
One of the netroots candidates who fell heartbreakingly short last year was Larry Kissell. None of the political poobahs took Kissell seriously last year, but without "institutional support," Larry and his ragtag netroots supporters came 329 votes short of winning against a five-term incumbent. Larry is on the radar this year. All the political oddsmakers call the race a tossup.
But Larry still needs the help of the netroots to win this time.
Larry has the same basic problem in fundraising that he had last year: he's a school teacher from Biscoe, a really small town where there aren't enough rich folks to finance a congressional campaign even if the rich folks were Democrats. In fact, Larry's district is one of the twenty congressional districts that have suffered the most economically.
But wouldn't it be refreshing to have a teacher from a small town in Congress?
Every day I'm in Congress I wish we had more Democrats and better Democrats. Yeah, this has been a frustrating week in Washington. Larry would be one more Democrat, but more important, he'll be a Democrat we can count on.
If you can help Larry before the end of the year, or better yet, before you go back to home page, it would make a big difference.
I think there are some folks from Larry's campaign who are standing by to answer any questions you have about Larry's campaign. I'll hang around until I'm called for votes, which could be at any time.
