I doubt any of us are immune from feelings of despair and fear; no matter what our station in life, it is a strong person indeed that can overcome these. Then I read something like this in my local paper and I understand that my own troubles don't really amount too much, and that I need to work on changing my attitude.
Despite a run of bad luck at Christmastime, including being evicted, having no job, living in a one-room motel room with three daughters and having his right arm pinned under a mobile home for an hour, Ronald Richards says he is a lucky man.
On Monday afternoon Richards was working on his mobile home on Towers Hill Lane in South Thomaston in the freezing cold, removing its cinder block foundation in order to transport it to DePatsy’s Mobile Home Park in Waldoboro. He took out the last cinder block, moved his head out from under the house, and the temporary supports broke, he said. The house came crashing down inches from his head and landed on his right arm above the elbow.

Despite his misfortune, Richards said he is lucky. He is left-handed, so he can continue to work on the mobile home. The accident also could have been much worse, he said.
"Somebody was definitely watching out for me that day," he said. "There had to be a guardian angel."
