[Promoted by DHinMI; I've never heard of this polling outfit, and with no information on the sample, whether it's likely or registered voters, or whether the question order was rotated, we should take it with a grain of salt. But as a committed supporter of R, I've chosen to trumpet these results as clear evidence that only R can win, and supporting anyone else would just hand the general election over to the Laplanders.]
In a new North Pole poll commissioned by the Reindeer Register, Rudolph has moved into a 5-point lead over Donner and Blitzen. The poll represents a 6-point improvement in Rudolph's numbers from the Register's previous poll, taken in mid-November. Complete results and trendlines follow after the break.
Rudolph 33 (+6)
Donner 28 (-4)
Blitzen 22 (-3)
Comet 9 (-1)
Cupid 6 (+3)
Prancer 3 (+1)
Dancer 1 (-1)
Vixen 1 (No change)
Dasher 0 (-2)
Rudolph campaign manager Joe Snowey attributes Rudolph's rise to the support of younger reindeer. "What we're hearing are the voices of thousands of young reindeer, who are tired of the same old polarizing politics of the Arctic," Snowey said. But Park Menn, Donner's campaign manager, dismissed the significance of the poll. "Are young reindeer really going to break from their herd to caucus for Rudolph on election day?", Menn said. "Experienced voters know that he is nothing more than a shiny red nose".
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. The poll also asked reindeer about their most important voting issue in the election. 98 percent of reindeer cited the melting of the polar ice caps; the remaining 2 percent, illegal walrus migration.
In a separate Register poll of elves, Dennis Kucinich continues to maintain an prohibitive lead with 82 percent of the vote.
Kucinich 82 (+3)
Snap 5 (-1)
Crackle 4 (+1)
Pop 2 (-3)
