The Past or the Future? That Is the Question

Do we want to relive the past or move ahead into the future? That is the question we are facing this week.

Hillary Clinton who represents the past, the establishment and the status quo. Or do we pick a figure that is young charismatic and filled with ideas of hope for the future. Yes I'm supporting Barack Obama in the 2008 race because I want a new direction in this country and not relive the wars of the 1990's. I am a college student who believes our best days are ahead and not behind us. Maybe I'm an optimist but I want to believe that the establishment doesn't own our Democracy. We basically have two choices of candidates to nominate Clinton and Obama. John Edwards is a great candidate but doesn't have a chance outside of Iowa. One day if I'm fortunate to have kids, I would want to tell them that I fought for their future and I stood up against the establishment of our party to give the party back to the people(where it belongs).  My hero John Kennedy inspired a generation. Where is that today in our political leaders? It surely isn't coming from the Clinton's. But I do see that when I see Obama speak. Look at all the young people who are in the crowds. To me that brings joy to my eyes because for so long I've been trying to get my peers involved without much success. Are we kidding ourselves by listening to the establishment cronies like Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Carville, Paul Begala and Mark Penn. The same criticism of Obama (that comes from the Clinton camp) happened to John Kennedy when he was running for president such as Being Experienced--- Challenged by Richard Nixon on this, Religion- being the first catholic is comparable to being the first black. All of these were Nixonian style tactics from the Republicans and now are being used by Hillary Clinton. Do we want a breath of fresh air or do we want to relive the 1990's? Do we want a President to inspire us or to divide us? That is the question we must ask ourselves relive the past or move ahead to a bigger and more beautiful tomorrow?

  to a sudden and unexpected incident involving international affairs.  Hillary looked like a President this week and Obama surely did not.

    I can't wait to cast my vote. I've been speaking to my peers and they are excited about Obama but not Clinton. That's one of the major reasons why I'm against her is because she can't inspire my generation and if we want a key demographic voting(we always vote democratic) for us then we need someone like Obama not Clinton to make us turn out in record numbers.
