Ya gotta love Joe Biden....

I'm sorry, ya just do. How can you not love a Democrat who sends out an email saying "I will eat Rudy Giuliani alive at a debate."

Folks, we've seen how dangerous it is to elect a president who doesn't understand how the world works. The last thing we need in the White House is four years of George W. Giuliani, or George W. Romney. Notice we haven't heard a word about their plans to reach a political solution in Iraq.

I promise you, when I am the Democratic nominee next year, I will eat them alive at the debates

I mean, come on, if that's not a fightin' Dem, what is? He is not just confident, he's HUNGRY to rip into the Republicans. And he DOES.

At minimum, ya gotta consider how great it would be to have him as the VP nominee, as Ezra Klein says

The eventual nominee needs the VP to do the sort of aggressive campaigning Edwards wouldn't. Which is why I'm increasingly finding myself a big proponent of Biden for vice-president. Biden's long and communicable experience on foreign policy and ability to deride and dismiss Republican claims to expertise on the subject both amplify any argument of experience and demonstrate a bareknuckle tendency that someone on the ticket will need. Right now, he's the only one in the race who seems to have figured out how to puncture the Right's national security pretensions, and so the most useful in the #2 slot. And that is something the Democratic ticket will need to do. So c'mon: Tell me you don't want to see this patter throughout the election:

    I think that Joe is too far behind in the polls to be viable candidate for the Pres nomination, but he would make an outstanding #2 for any of the front-runners. And from his comments at the debate, he seems to be auditioning for the role.

    The skills he has been showing lately with his one-line zingers aimed at Rudy and the others fit in well with the image of the VP as the hatchet man, much like Spiro and Cheney (and to some degree Al Gore) were free to let 'er rip at their opponents while the POTUS could appear to remain above it all.

    Joe is showing that he could play this role beautifully. Plus his foreign policy experience and insights make him an invaluable asset to the team, again much like Gore was for Bill Clinton. And I don't think he genuinely offends or puts off any Dem interest groups. And finally, he is in no danger of having a Rep take over his senate seat.

    Yeah, I'm kinda likin' it.

    I don't dislike the guy but he can get pretty frustrating like that. He did it while supposedly surrogating for Kerry on one of the cable shows last time.

    Frankly, he creates a Lloyd Bentsen problem if he's at the top of the ticket - you don't to risk having your VP to look more "presidential" than the nominee.  It's all perception, but it's true.

    I'd like him at the top of the ticket, though.

  where he's at, or in a post to State or Defense.  As a VP?  Could be, I just cannot see him as Prez.  His value might be diminished.

  And yes, that is a provacative statement.

  I can see Edwards, Clinton or Obama as pres.  Same case with Richardson - his value is elsewhere.  I want Dodd as an active voice in the Senate for education, I want Kucinich to keep all of them on their toes.

  He's a leader in the "day late and a dollar short" division of "being a genuine antiwar candidate" and I appreciate his offer to impeach Bush "when and If" but again, too little too late.

  The further and further we get into this campaign, the more and more clear it becomes to me that Joe Biden is most capable of taking on the Republicans. While Hillary and Obama are being childish and attacking one another, Joe Biden is ripping into the Republicans. And he does it with that matter-of-fact attitude that I love about him. While Republicans live to claim they are strong on national security, Joe Biden has the credentials and knowledge and ideas to say "Nope, you're wrong and here's why...".

  I mean, honestly, during the debates, I laughed out loud several times. Obama, Hillary, and Edwards act like children bickering at one another, without these "great ideas" but won't say clearly how they want to go about achieving these goals. Then, Joe Biden comes on (this is a rare moment, because the media will only focus on the "front-runners") and say "Here's what I'm going to do - A, B, and C. Here's why I'm going to do it, A, B, and C. Oh, and Rudy Giuliani is an idiot."
  (Note: he's attacking the real opponent. Yes, surprising all you Hillary and Obama fans.)

  While I would love and dream of him being our candidate, I think there's a very, very strong chance that he'll be the vice president and for good reason. He's not that energetic (and it pisses me off to no end that we now vote for president, not on issues, but who is closest to a movie star), but he's got the experience, knowledge, and ideas that we need. Really, when the sharpest criticism towards Obama is his lack of experience, what better way to shut up those opponents with pairing him with a Senator of 35 years? The same can be said for Edwards, too.

  He has also resorted to attacing the real opponents, the Republicans, instead of attacking his party members, like the "Big 3". By focusing attacks on the real enemy, he's most likely the most well liked out of all of them by the candidates for he hasn't attacked any of the Democrats (at least not consistently). This puts him in good standing with just about any of the Democrats.
